In Madison, three programs are tied to your address:

Up to $50,000 Building Improvement Grant grant You do not pay it back. Locally owned shops, restaurants and salons.
Up to $250,000 Small Cap TIF loan Low interest, for a bigger project. Businesses with 5 to 100 people.
Up to $250,000 Commercial Ownership Assistance loan Buy your building instead of renting. Open at least two years.

How getting the money actually works

Your business Type, size, age, and whether you rent or own all matter. The building grant is for retail, restaurants, and salons that are locally owned. The TIF loan needs 5 to 100 employees. Commercial Ownership Assistance is for a business that has been open two years and is moving from renting to owning.
